Directions
BY AIR. Several national and international airlines serve Alaska through the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Once here you can board a quick 45-minute shuttle flight with ERA Aviation, the only airline serving Valdez from Anchorage. This daily air service gives you a bird’s-eye view of the coastal Chugach Mountains and its glacial ice fields.
BY ROAD. From Anchorage the 300-mile drive on the Glenn and Richardson Highways takes you along the north side of the Chugach Range and can offer spectacular views of the Matanuska and Tazlina Glaciers to the south and the Wrangell Mountains to the east. Both roads are well maintained year round. All major rental car companies are available at the Anchorage International Airport.
